Rev. Carnes is committed to being accessible to the congregation and the surrounding community. To do this, he carries a smartphone so that people can connect with a voice call, a text, through facebook messenger, or twitter. If you wish to meet with him or plan to pop by the office you are always welcome to call and arrange a time with him or with the church office which is open 9am-12pm M-Th.
He also goes out into the community, regularly. Sometimes he schedules time, in advance, so that others in the church and drop by and join him (called “out of the office hours”).
If no one drops-by he will pull out his laptop, order a drink/snack/meal, and do office work or worship planning. His favorite days, however, are those days when people stop by and visit. They may want to talk church business, they may have a story to share or a question to ask, or they may just want to visit and grow in relationship.
Please stop by during Rev. Carnes’ Out-of-the Office Hours: He continues to go out into the community week-after-week. You can find his schedule on the website (www.abingdonumc.net/calendar), on the weekly announcement screens, and on a schedule next to his office door.
