Worship Services

Abingdon United Methodist Church currently offers a worship experience.  We worship each Sunday at 9:30am. Here at AUMC we have a very unique worship experience that you do not want miss. We have a truly blended worship service that includes the modern Christian music you may hear on the radio, contemporary hymns and classic arrangements. We are a church devoted to pray for and love anyone who comes through those doors and our messages are full of God's love and grace.

Everyone in the church is asked to consider participating in worship!  If you have an interest in singing, praying, reading, preaching, teaching or anything else during worship, please contact Pastor Connor and we will get you involved.

Each Sunday morning, we offer two different worship services.  The message is the same; however, the format is different.

At 8:30am we have a "traditional" worship service.  This service uses hymns, an organ or piano, and is especially interactive with liturgies spoken between the leaders and the worshipers. We open with a prelude, call to worship, opening prayer and hymn; We share joys and concerns, pray as a congregation, collect a morning offering and sing a hymn as we prepare to hear God's word; A sermon rooted in scripture but related to our current reality is shared; and we close each week with a hymn and postlude.

At 11:00am we encounter God through a "contemporary" worship experience.  This service is filled with recent Christian worship songs and has a very relaxed atmosphere.  We open with worship songs, have prayer and offering, a sermon rooted in scripture but related to our current reality, and close with worship songs.  Our altar rail is always open as worship closes for those who wish to pray down in front.

Both services offer Children's Church which provides those ages 5 and under and opportunity to learn music and crafts that tie in with the day's message.  Nursery care is also available.

For those that are hard of hearing or that could benefit from larger texts, we offer large-print hymnals and assistive hearing devices. Please check with an greeter and they will assist you.
